Kevin James Smith, 57 of Gerrardstown, WV, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at his home.

Kevin was born in 1967 in Akron, OH, the son of the late James William Smith and Shirley (Temple) Wiseman. He was a graduate of Philip Barbour High School in Philippi, WV. He worked as a Concrete Batchman for Schuster Concrete in Hagerstown, MD. Kevin attended Victory Church in Winchester. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Kevin enjoyed watching football, water sports and going out on his boat. He most enjoyed vacationing with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda whom he married on June 19, 1994, daughter, Natasha Segura (Shannon) of Beckley, WV; sisters, Kathy Sudith of MO, Christine Ware of Charles Town, WV, Suzie Brooks of Farmville, VA; brothers, Mark Brooks of Newcomers, OH, Harold Brooks of Sterling, KY and Roy Brooks of Mesa, AZ and his grandbaby dogs, Rizzoli & Isles.

Along with his parents, Kevin is preceded in death by his son, Corey Smith.

A memorial gathering will be held for Kevin on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say goodbye for now to my buddy. God has called you home to soon for us to understand but God has his reasons. Few things in life are as precious a gift as a friend to walk through life with. Rest in angels arms and get some quality fishing time in with Cory. Love you brother and I’ll see you when God calls me home some day.
