Keven Voyne Omps, 85, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, February 25, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Omps was born in 1933 in Capon Bridge, West Virginia, the son of the late H. Herschel and Nellie Omps. He graduated from James Wood High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Omps was co-owner/operator of H.H. Omps Transportation. He was a member of the NRA, the American Legion in Capon Bridge, past member of the Board of Directors of Clear Brook Fire Department, served on the Board of Directors at Marathon Bank in the past, and was one of the original founders of the Shenandoah Valley Pullers Association. He thoroughly enjoyed truck pulling and encouraged his sons to be a part of this. Mr. Omps enjoyed hunting, his dogs, and above all else, his family….especially family dinners. He attended Bloomery Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Omps married Bessie Haymaker in 1954 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife of 64 years are children, Kenneth William Omps (Lisa) of Winchester, Virginia, Martha Omps Miller (Wayne) of Winchester, Virginia, Jessie Omps Gulick (Terry) of Clear Brook, Virginia, and Michael Voyne Omps (Marcella) of Clear Brook, Virginia; grandchildren, Dale Omps (Jenny), Kelsey Omps, Ashley Hoffmann (Andrew), Brittany Holliday, Ryan Gulick (Kristin), Keven “K.C.” Gulick, and Kaitlyn Gulick; great grandchildren, Kemper Omps, Korbin Omps, Mackenzie Haun, and Ava Hoffmann; brother, John E. Omps (Millie) of Berryville, Virginia; his beloved dogs, Rusty and Buddy; as well as his friends in the Mountaineer Hunt Club.
Mr. Omps was preceded in death by a sister, Emmagene Faye Dorsey.
A visitation will be from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be at 11 am on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor David W. Omps officiating. His final resting place will be in Fairview Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gore, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Omps, Ryan Gulick, Keven Gulick, Kemper Omps, Donnie Milburn, and Todd Kettlewell.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mountineer Hunt Club.
