Kermit Lee Harkins
Kermit Lee Harkins, 83, of Charleston, West Virginia, died, July 15, 2013 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Harkins, was born in December 1929, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of the late Bertrum and Hazel Harkins. He received an Associates Degree from the University of Charleston. Mr. Harkins was a veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Dupont as a draftsmen retiring in 1986. Mr. Harkins was a member of the Kanawha United Presbyterian Church. He loved to research his family genealogy and was an avid WVU sports fan.
Mr. Harkins married Barbara Jane Rider, on October 18, 1957, in Charleston, West Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his two daughters Debbie Jeannine Whitehurst, and husband Lee, of Paw Paw, West Virginia and Lisa Renee Cantoni, and husband Michael, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and one son Daniel Bradford Harkins of Charleston, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Emilee Jeannine Whitehurst, Carrie Marie Whitehurst, Michael Anthony Cantoni, Olivia Danielle Cantoni; a sister Phyllis Dent and one brother Robert Paul Harkins.
Mr. Harkins was preceded in death by a brother, James Harkins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. A service will follow at 2:00 PM with celebrant H. R. Whittington officiating.
Interment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
