Kent B. Hickman, 85, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Kent was born in 1938 in Monmouth, Illinois, loving son of the late Robert and Ruth Hickman. In 1950 the family relocated to DeKalb, Illinois. He was a graduate of DeKalb Township High School and the University of Colorado Boulder, where he studied English Literature. Kent was devoted to the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, forever supporting the educational and leadership needs of students. His decades-long career with the United States Government as a Foreign Service Officer offered assignments to many areas of the world. Kent was a friend of countless people. He loved dogs, and for as long as he could he had his trusted canine companions at his side.
Kent was a loving brother, uncle, and great uncle. Surviving to cherish his memory is a brother, Scot (Bonnie) Hickman and sister, Joan Culley; nephews, William (Liz) Hickman and Joseph (Becky)Hickman; three great nieces and two great nephews.
All services for Kent will be private and he will be laid to rest at the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
