Kenneth Roy Frye, 79 of Stephens City, VA, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.
Kenny was born in 1945 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Roy Baker and Geneva Mae Frye. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1964. Kenny worked as a car mechanic before joining Valley Protein where he worked for almost 30 years and retired in 2000. After retiring, he worked as a mechanic for Virginia Tech Research Lab. Kenny was a former member of the Izaak Walton League and was active with the Mended Hearts when he was younger. He belonged to the Hoppers Auto Club and was one of the founding members of the Tractor Puller’s Association in Winchester. Kenny loved fishing, being outdoors, and rebuilding cars and boat motors. He loved boating on the Shenandoah River and being out on the water. In his spare time, he could be found rebuilding tractor motors, building steam engines, and going to tractor pulls. Kenny loved animals and is also survived by his beloved cat, Rosie.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Sherri, whom he married on December 30, 1967, daughter, Rebekah McKendry (David Ian McKendry) of Burbank, CA; grandchildren, Marnie McKendry of Burbank, CA, Strummer McKendry of Burbank, CA; sister, Betty Lathem of Elgin, TX; cousin, Beverley Ridings of Star Tannery, VA; and close friends, Steve Frye of Winchester, VA and Emily Headley of Winchester, VA.
A Memorial Service will be held for Kenny at a later date.
