Kenneth M. Fahnestock

Kenneth Moore Fahnestock, 93, passed from this earth on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. He was born on December 11, 1916, son of George and Viola Racey Fahnestock in Frederick County, Virginia.

He married Audrey Fauver Fahnestock, April 6, 1941, in a marriage that lasted 65 years until her passing.

He retired from Fruit Hill Orchards at the age of 81.

He is survived by two sons, Jeff Fahnestock and wife, Susan, of Fort Ashby, West Virginia and Terry Fahnestock and wife, Ruth, of Frederick County, Virginia. Along with the “Apples of His Eyes”, grandson, Jason Fahnestock of Frederick County, and Thressa Meadows of Winchester are also many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, two sons-in-law, Paul Cooley of Sterling, Virginia and Donald McIntire of Frederick County.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Audrey, daughters, Lettie Cooley and Bonnie McIntire and son, Rickie Fahnestock, brother, Warren Fahnestock, sisters, Bessie Cooper, Nina Giffin and Hazel Frye.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Gregory Miller officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Hayfield, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Jason Fahnestock, Scott Funkhouser, Whitey Meadows, Chris Fauver, Calvin Ritter and Jeff Whitlock. Honorary Pallbearer is Kevin Dale Miller.

The family will receive friends on Friday, prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
