Kenneth “Bobby” Leight, 72, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Hilltop House Assisted Living Facility after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Mr. Leight was born in 1945 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Robert and Mary Pifer Leight. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1963 and earned an Associate’s Degree from Lord Fairfax Community College. Mr. Leight was self-employed as an Orchard Consultant. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard, serving for seven years. Mr. Leight was a member of Winchester Moose Lodge; enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles.
Surviving is a daughter, Kim Leight of Raleigh, North Carolina and a son, Nathan Leight (Heather) of Stephenson, Virginia; grandchild, Brody Leight of Stephenson, Virginia; sister, Charlotte Moulden of Clear Brook, Virginia; and brother, Richard Leight (Mary Jane) of Clear Brook, Virginia.
Mr. Leight was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Leight Snapp.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Don Moulden officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
