Kay (Youngblood) Payne of Mount Jackson, formerly of Annandale, Virginia passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Payne was born March 3, 1938, in Quitman, Georgia. She was the daughter of Elsie (Padget) Youngblood and Robert Youngblood.
Mrs. Payne married James Lee Payne on October 16, 1961, in Miami, Florida. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Payne had 2 wonderful careers. First with the Central Intelligence Agency for 30 years and later as an inn keeper for her beloved Strathmore House Bed and Breakfast, which she ran with her husband. She greatly enjoyed the process of renovating and decorating the property, returning it to its former glory. Mrs. Payne was a member of the Mount Jackson Lioness and Garden clubs.
Mrs. Payne traveled to many places throughout her life: Panama, Iran, London, Egypt, Ecuador, Colombia, and Honduras to just name a few. It was one of her greatest passions and proudest accomplishment.
She is survived by her two daughters Suzanne (Ronald) Eason of Virginia Beach and Rebecca (Matt) Snyder of Berryville, as well as her five grandchildren Emily Snyder, Kathryn (Ethan) Fiery, Claire Snyder, Zach Eason, and Truitt Eason and 2 great-granddaughters Maria Fiery and Beatrice Fiery.
