Kathryn Patricia “Katie” Ryan, 63, of Winchester, VA, died Thursday, August 13, 2015, peacefully at her home.

Mrs. Ryan was born in 1951, in North Kingstown, RI, the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Patricia A. Monroe.  She was a Certified Nursing Assistant in the medical field, retiring in 1995 and was of the Catholic faith.  Mrs. Ryan loved traveling the world with her husband while he was in the Navy and enjoyed gardening.  Her passion for animals was shown by supporting any organization that would help animals.

Mrs. Ryan married Thomas A. Ryan on July 17, 1984, in Okinawa, Japan, at the Embassy.

Surviving with her husband are daughters, Natalie J. Langford (Mick) and Denise M. Newton (David); sons, William C. Tygart (Carli) and Terry P. Ryan; sisters, Karen Adducci (Tony) and Kelly Foulke (Tom); brother, Kevin Monroe; grandchildren, William, Daniel, Nathan, and Lili Langford; Brock, Kara, Sarina, Drake, and Cade Tygart; Samantha and Blake Diagle, and Austin Ryan; great grandchildren, Hana and Kaylinn.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Father Eric Shafer officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
