Kathryn Margaret Mitchell Clancy
Kathryn Margaret Mitchell Clancy, 86, of Winchester, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Clancy was born in 1927, in Oswego, New York. She was the daughter of Colonel James A. Mitchell and Florence Mitchell. After graduating from Oswego High School, she attended The University of Georgia. She worked at Valley National Bank, later the Key Bank of New York as a bank loan officer for 20 years.
Kay was a gardener, seamstress, golfer, cross country skier, hiker, square and ballroom dancer, beach lover, shell collector, and banker. Throughout her struggle with Alzheimer’s disease she remained amiable and strong, always with a smile for everyone.
She married Joseph Michael Clancy on June 28, 1949, in Oswego, New York. They were happily married for 60 years.
She leaves behind many people who loved her: a daughter, Maureen Clancy Hall and her husband, William Preston Hall of Winchester, Virginia; granddaughter, Heather Hall Campbell and her husband Brian Campbell, their children, Zachary and Riley of Richmond, Virginia and a grandson, Timothy W. Hall and his wife Tanya and their children, Brennan, Connor, and Elise of Locust Grove, Virginia.
Her husband, Joseph Michael Patrick Clancy and two brothers, James A. Mitchell and Les Mitchell, and one sister, Barbara Mitchell Rourke, preceded her in death
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 11 at 2:30 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
Interment will be private.
