Kathryn “Kitty” DeHaven, 71, of Frederick County, Virginia died Friday, December 23, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. DeHaven was born in 1945 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the daughter of the late William Roe and Vada P. Bowman; stepdaughter of the late Ralph L. Bowman. She graduated from John Handley High School. Mrs. DeHaven worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company, and later employed at Kohl’s Distribution Center. She loved the car races and was a Winchester Speedway enthusiast; enjoyed cross-stitching, country music, and her Boston Terriers. Mrs. DeHaven was a member of Woodbine Assembly of God Church in Clear Brook, Virginia.
Mrs. DeHaven married Walter Wilson DeHaven, Jr. on September 18, 1971 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband is a son, Lanny DeHaven and wife, Melissa of Winchester, Virginia; step-brothers, Michael L. Bowman and wife, Debbie of Alexandria, Virginia and Wayne S. Bowman and wife, Amanda of Walkersville, Maryland.
Mrs. DeHaven was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela DeHaven and a son, Walter “Woody” Wilson DeHaven, III.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Louis Whitford, III officiating at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
