Kathleen Ann Petruska, 70, of Lake Frederick, Virginia passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Petruska was born in 1948 in Peabody, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late James and Beatrice Collins. She graduated from Georgian Court College in New Jersey earning a Bachelor of Arts in History. Mrs. Petruska retired in 2006 from Sallie Mae, a consumer banking company, where she was a Training Department Manager. She was a past member of the Old Dominion Cotillion; a member of the Red Hat Society and was very involved in the Lake Frederick Retirement Community, where she started the Welcoming Committee, the Chapter 2 Group, and many other committees within the community. Mrs. Petruska enjoyed international travel and the theater arts. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Her husband, Thomas Michael Petruska, whom she married on June 17, 1972 in Stamford, Connecticut, preceded her in death in 2016.
Surviving is a daughter, Kerry Ann Bitter and her husband, Michael and grandson, Shaun Michael Bitter.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Petruska was preceded in death by a son, Michael Terrance Petruska and a brother, Patrick Collins.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am with Reverend Bjorn Lundberg officiating. Inurnment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
