Katherine L. MacLaren Douglas, 93, formerly of Parsonsburg, MD, died Friday, May 20,2011 in Strasburg, VA at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Katherine Douglas, was born on April18,1918 in Cable Head West, Prince Edward Island, Canada, the daughter of the late Duncan and Margaret MacLaren. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, homemaker, and loving mother. She was a member of Ocean City Worship Center in Berlin, MD., and attended Bethel Assembly of God in Front Royal, VA for the past two years.
Rev. Albion G. Douglas, whom she married on December 20th,1942, preceded her in death on December 1, 2002.
Surviving are her six children: David Douglas (Brenda) of Parsonsburg, MD; Elva Layfield (Bill) of Hebron, MD; Beverly Kerfoot(Rick) of Strasburg, VA; Paul Douglas(Anita) of Parsonsburg, MD; F. Blair Douglas(Lou) of Haslett, MI; Jerry Douglas(Karla) of Salisbury, MD. She also leaves behind her treasured 15 grandchildren: Ron Douglas(Jen), Lane Douglas(Joanne), Stephen Douglas(Kristen), Dawn Littleton(Matt), Rick Layfield(Kara), Kathy Cannon(Ben), Jon Douglas(Megan), Tatina Whitmarsh(Brian), Katrina Smith(Jordan), Mike Douglas(Kimberly), Chris Douglas, Jordan Douglas, James Douglas, Janaye Douglas; 16 great grandchildren: Brianna Douglas, Todd Douglas, Ross Douglas, Ainsley Douglas, Kyle Douglas, Alex Littleton, Peyton Littleton, Noah Layfield, Kora Layfield, Kerrigan Kerfoot, Aidan Kerfoot, Jada Cannon, Jaeshawn Cannon, Jarron Cannon, Natalia Whitmarsh, Gavin Douglas; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Ramenda of Scarborough, Ontario and Marjorie Beljinac of St. Catherine’s, Ontario, Canada.
She was predeceased by seven sisters, Mary, Rena, Gladys, Anna, Rose, Elva, Barbara; and three brothers, Fulton, Stanley, and James, all of Canada.
Katherine will be remembered for her wonderful home-baked meals, Christmas Plum Pudding, and her spiritual strength passed on to her family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Holloway Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Brian Pugner will be officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ron Douglas, Rick Layfield, Rick Kerfoot, Jon Douglas, Mike Douglas, Jordan Douglas.
