Karen M. Carper
Karen Virginia Meister Carper, 63, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, September 27, 2010, in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Carper was born in 1946, in Camden, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Howard Meister and Virginia LeDane. She worked in the office at Grand Home Furnishings in Winchester retiring in August of 2008. Mrs. Carper attended Valley Pike Church of the Brethren in Maurertown, Virginia. She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1965 and attended Radford College.
Karen loved the beach, collecting antiques, traveling, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
She married Denny Carper on July 1, 1967, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband, is their daughter, Tracey Carper Smith of Frederick, Maryland, her sister, Shelley Padgett and husband, Chris and their daughter, Emily, of Noblesville, Indiana; brother, Howard Meister and wife, Elaine, of Cashiers, North Carolina and their son, Scott Meister, of Charleston, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Diane Carper Baker and husband, Bill, of Vienna, Virginia and their sons, Michael T. Baker, of Washington D.C., Mark W. Baker, of Alexandria, Virginia and step-father, Robert LeDane, of Conway, South Carolina.
One niece, Stephanie Meister, preceded her in death.
Family and friends will gather Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
All other services with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel will be private.
