Karen (Barrett) Owens, age 71, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born in Winchester on May 13, 1955, Karen was the daughter of the late Carl Lee Barrett, Sr., and Anna Lee (Myers) Barrett Kenney. She was a graduate of John Handley High School and spent her professional career serving her community. For about 18 years, she worked with the Winchester Stock Sale before joining Kern Motor Co. as a Title Clerk, where she eventually retired in 2018. Karen was also a dedicated member of Wesley Church in Winchester.

Karen embraced life’s simple pleasures. She cherished trips down to the beach to soak up the sun and loved going on horse trail rides alongside her late partner, Charles “Doug” Robinson. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing Bingo, but above all, she treasured every opportunity to visit and spend quality time with her beloved family and friends.

In addition to her parents and her partner, Doug, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Ann Nichols.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Amy Owens of Winchester, VA; her son, Carl Owens of Winchester, VA; and her brothers, Carl Barrett, Jr. (Pamela J.) of Winchester, VA, and Donald Barrett (Triana) of Paw Paw, WV.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00 am at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be in Old Stone Church Cemetery.
