Kaitlyn Nicole Brill

Ricky Franklin Brill, 45, of Frederick County, and Kaitlyn Nicole Brill, 11, of Clearbrook, died Monday, December 14, 2009, in Frederick County, Virginia.

Ricky was born in Winchester, Virginia in 1964, the son of Franklin Ralph and Peggy Ann Brill, Sr. of Winchester, Virginia. He was employed as a desk clerk at Quality Inn in Winchester. He served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department for nineteen years. Ricky had formerly been a Reserve Officer with Winchester City Police Department and a former part-time assistant with Omps Funeral Home. He attended Winchester Church of God.

Katie was born in Winchester, Virginia in 1998, the daughter of Caroline Sue Detamore Brill, and the late Ricky Franklin Brill. She was a sixth grade student at James Wood Middle School and attended River Church in Winchester, Virginia. Kaitlyn played the flute in the James Wood Middle School Band. She was a cheerleader, played basketball and softball for Frederick County Parks and Recreation.

Ricky is survived by his parents, his fiancé, Serena Turner and her daughter, Madison Olivia Turner; daughters, Kristi Lynn Brill, Latisha Beth Brill, and her two sons; granddaughter, Ayana Nicole Detamore; his sister, Deborah Brill Grim and her husband, Jeff; his brother, Franklin R. Brill, Jr. ; nieces and nephews, Mark Grim, Steven Grim, Faith Grim, Holly Grim and Robbie Grim, all of Winchester. One step-son, Michael Leon Detamore, preceded him in death.

Kaitlyn is survived by her mother, one sister, Kristi Lynn Brill; step-sister, Latisha Beth Brill and her two sons; and her niece, Ayana Nicole Detamore. She is also surviving by grandfather, Charles B. Detamore of Frederick County; aunt, Tanya Sue Detamore Dodson and uncle Harry Lee Detamore. Her Grandmother, Patricia P. Detamore and her step-brother, Michael Leon Detamore, preceded her in death.

A Joint Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Winchester Church of God with Reverend Dr. Darrell Waller and Pastor Mark D’Arezzo officiating. Interment with full honors accorded by Frederick County Sheriff’s Department will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.

Katie’s pallbearers will be Jeff Grim, Franklin Brill, Jr., Mark Grim, and Steven Grim.

Ricky’s pallbearers will be Sgt. Robert Gaither, Deputy Patrick Seville, Investigator Holmes Smoke, Jr., Jimmy Meadows, David Lauro, Deputy Eddie Roberts and Chief Charles Bockey, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 5:00-9:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, Virginia, 22601 or Esther Boyd Animal Shelter, 161 Ft. Collier Road, Winchester, Virginia 22603.
