Junior Raymond Godlove, 79, of Winchester, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at his home with his wife of 56 years by his side.
Mr. Godlove was born in 1933 in Frederick County, Virginia the son of the late Raymond and Grace Godlove. He was a self-employed carpenter. He semi-retired in 1996, but remained interested and active in the business. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Mountain View and the American Legion, Post 21. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Godlove married Betty Shifflett Godlove on December 15, 1956 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is a son, Russell Keith Godlove and his wife, Phena Gano of Whitacre, VA; a grandson, Kyle Hampton Godlove of Winchester, VA and a sister, Mabel Godlove Sheets and her husband, Roy of Bunker Hill, WV.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Webber and Gladys Wingfield, and five brothers, Joseph Godlove, Melvin Godlove, Kenneth Godlove, Herman “Dick” Godlove, and John Godlove.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Evangelists Charles Doughty and Brian Dicken officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Godlove’s nephews, Jeff Godlove, Mike Godlove, Wayne Godlove, Charles Webber, Roy Sheets, Jr. and Dean Roush. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends, Frank Feathers, Jr., Jay Gregg, Brandon Ludwig and Keiver Jordan and Jerry Reid.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
