Julia L. “Judy” Slayden
Julia Light “Judy” Slayden, 83, of Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Slayden was born in 1926 on the Woodside Farm in Clear Brook, VA, the daughter of the late Harry and Edna Light. She was a homemaker.
She was married to Hartwell B. Slayden, who is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Julie Nesselrodt and her husband, Jim of Stephens City, VA; a son, Edwin T. “Boo” Snider, III and his wife, Shelley of Stephenson, VA; four grandchildren, Hillary S. Nesselrodt of Stephens City, VA, James S. “Jamie” Nesselrodt and his wife, Ashley, Edwin T. “E.T.” Snider, IV of Richmond, VA, and Carrie McCorkle and her husband, Matthew of Fredericksburg, VA; four great grandchildren, and two sisters, Dorothy Scott of Harrisonburg, VA, and Ann Arnold of Winchester. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Kuykendall and a brother, Huyett Light.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jamie S. Nesselrodt, E.T. Snider, IV, Matt McCorkle and Jim Nesselrodt.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
