Juanita Rawlings (Roe) Patterson, 92, of Winchester, Virginia died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Patterson was born in 1924 in Virginia, the daughter of the late Andrew C. and Beulah D. Roe. She was a graduate of Gainesboro High School and attended Winchester Business College earning an Associate’s Degree. Mrs. Patterson enjoyed playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, gardening, crewel work, embroidery, and going to Charles Town to play the slots. She also enjoyed watching game shows on T.V. especially Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and The Price Is Right. She was an avid Redskins and Orioles fan. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church where she participated in Women of the Church organization. She was a member of the Tuesday morning bowling league (aka, The Three Grandmas), a member of Woodmen of the World Family Fraternity, and volunteered with the Winchester Medical Center Auxiliary.
Her husband, Carlton Edward Patterson, whom she married on June 18, 1952 in Frederick County, Virginia preceded her in death in 2003.
Surviving are sons, Keith E. Patterson (Debbie) of Fincastle, Virginia and Bret A. Patterson (Shawna Gerbracht) of Gore, Virginia; daughter, Tami P. Collins (Martin) of Yellow Spring, West Virginia; grandchildren, Miana Patterson, Shana Patterson (Fiance’, Nicholas MacFarland), Jeremiah Collins (Brianne), Isaiah Collins (Fiance’, Brittany Clites), Sierra Collins (Significant other, Thomas Stamulis), and Cayden Light; great granddaughter, Fiona Elizabeth Collins; sisters, Genevieve Roe and Blanche Palmer; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eunice Slonaker; brothers, Rando, Jennings, Roscoe, and Hunter Roe.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Dr. Bill Everhart officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
