Susie Duane left a message on February 23, 2020:
Dear Sherrie and Gary: Sending my most sincere condolences on the passing of your mom. Although I had only met her once, her reputation in this area preceded her as a person of compassion and caring, the nurse extraordinaire, and a strong woman who raised three wonderful children. I hope your hearts will soon be filled with wonderful memories, although I have no doubt, they are now heartbroken. Godspeed.

Alex Iden left a message on February 22, 2020:
Juanita was one of the stars of the South End Citizens Group. She had a practical, good sense and good humor about her when approaching community problems. While she acted at all times with respect to all points of view, she never ceased to speak the truth in love- sometimes with the most wonderful facial expressions! My family was most honored when Juanita attended the funeral of my father, Dr. Tom Iden, in full dress nurse’s uniform. When I thanked her, she expressed her appreciation of Dad and said that she attended the funerals of older health care professionals so attired as a tribute to the deceased and to the profession. Juanita was a fantastic lady.

To the Carter family ~~ We met Juanita shortly after we moved to Winchester in 2003. She lived several blocks up the street from us on Valley Avenue. She was one of the friendliest, most active people I have ever met! She always had an upbeat attitude and seemed unstoppable. Juanita Carter made the world a richer place by just being in it. We send our deepest sympathies ~~ Quinton and Fran Barker

Juanita was one of the most delightful people, who I came to know through the Shenandoah Valley Genealogical Society. We could never get her to run for one of our SVGS board positions, but she shared all her knowledge and was just a real gem to our members. I will miss her smiling face!

My respect for Juanita is enormous. She was a perfect role model for every nurse. A connection we had was through Jerome Virginia - and the Dellinger clan. I hope she is able to be at rest and with her beloved nurse friends such as Mary Jane McCone. She may be gone, but this is one nurse who will never be forgotten.
