It is with deep sympathy that we announce the passing of Joyce Marie Robinson, lovingly known to many as “Joycee.” Joyce passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the age of 72, at Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by those closest to her.
Born in 1952 in Winchester, VA, Joyce was the daughter of the late Albert William Robinson and Lula Jane (Medley) Smith. She pursued her education with dedication, earning an associate degree from Lord Fairfax Community College.
Joyce’s life was beautiful and loving, yet simple. She was a captivating woman with an infectious smile and a remarkable personality.
She found great joy in collecting antiques, exploring fashion, interior design projects, and above all, embracing her role as “Nana.”
Joyce cherished a good flower and loved having plants in the house. The same house where her favorite shows, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Young & The Restless,” played, a morning cup of coffee brewed, and one of the best meals you could ever have, she prepped.
You’d embrace a nice piece of furniture in her home and not even realize it was something she had restored and refinished into a cherished piece. She saw the beauty in old pieces and had a special way of bringing them out.
Fondly known as a “dumpster diver diva,” with her closest friends, Joyce enjoyed good thrift shops and rummage sales, where she always seemed to find a good piece. She had an ear for good music and an appreciated taste for fine whiskey and wine.
Her love for travel was embraced in the moments when she was able to. Whether it was another country, state, or just down the street, she enjoyed it to the fullest. The stories she would come back with were enough to give you a good laugh or smile just by hearing her tell them.
Joyce’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Alexis Danielle “Dani” Cooper-Robinson; her sons, Maurice Lynn Robinson and Sean Christopher Robinson; and her treasured grandchildren, Darion D’Sean Robinson (Devon), LaTeesha Sharae’ Reaves, KeSean Kristopher Robinson, Angelica Morae Priest Robinson, and Juan Maurice Reaves. Her great-grandson, Jason Allen Morgan, III, held a special place in her heart. She also leaves behind her brothers, Richard Conrad Medley (Vivian), Michael Lynn Robinson (Tina), Kairl “Bill” Channing Robinson, and her sister, Cheryl Annette Biggus; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In accordance with Joyce’s wishes, the services will be private to the immediate family.
