Joyce Angela “Joy” Bernard Kozoroz, 63, of Stephens City, VA passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at her home.

Joy was born in 1957 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Lester Everly and Joyce Dean Bernard. She was a homemaker that loved to bake and cook. Everyone knew her for her fried chicken and chocolate pie. Joy always enjoyed cookouts with family and friends. She was an avid reader and would complete a book or two a day, while her feline companions kept her company. Joy crocheted blankets for others and enjoyed country dancing. She had a recognizable laugh and infectious smile. Her greatest weakness was chocolate milkshakes! But she was the happiest when she had a house full of kids and company. Her nickname fit her perfectly…Joy.

She married Nicholas Paul Kozoroz on April 24, 1991 in Norfolk, VA.

Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Nichole Jenkins of Harker Heights, TX; sons, Christopher Largent (Yousong) of Round Hill, VA, Joshua Kozoroz (Angela Marie) of Okinawa, Japan, and Seth Kozoroz of Stephens City, VA; grandchildren, Mordecai, Aijalon, Jadison, Lorelei, Eddie, and Becca; sister, Barbara Jones (Bob) of Alamogordo, NM; brothers, Ernest Bernard of Indiana and Mark Bernard of Aurora, CO.

A Celebration of Life BBQ will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Please email joymemory2020@gmail.com for complete information.

I will always remember her for her love of cats, contagious laugh and always asking if I was hungry or thirsty. I miss you Joy, we will see you later in the afterlife.

Momma Koz had such a spark and always welcomed us in her home. She will be greatly missed. ?

I will miss my sweet sister. She was my best friend. We talked almost every day. We both had a distinct laugh, and it was fun when we would laugh together. She loved being a wife and mother to her four children.

I miss you momma. I'm glad i got to kiss you and hug you and tell you how much i love you before you went to sleep. Give mawmaw and papa hugs for me up in heaven. I miss you so much.

Nick, Nikki, Chris, Seth and Josh, and all those who loved Joy. We were all shocked to learn of Joy's passing. Hearts are heavy, broken, sad, empty and so much more right now but the sun will shine again and your hearts will be filled with Joy and laughter and life..and Joy will live forever in our hearts. Share your sweet stories so she will live forever in the hearts of her grandchildren! When I remember Joy, I think of love, caring and humility. Is there anything more Christ like than that?

There was a small time in my life that Joy was my other mom. She cooked for me. Baked for me. Tried teaching me how to bake. Invited me to every family function and treated me like her own even while being pregnant and tired she never had a harsh word or ever made me feel like I didnt belong. Joy is a beautiful soul and I'm sorry that I lost touch over the years. You will be missed momma joy. Today and for always. Rest easy

Joy was like a mother to me. I remember with the utmost fondness the days spent at her home throughout high school and beyond. Joy always took care of us kids and was happy to have a house full of friends and family. Some of my favorite times were gathering for Christmas every year at the house and giving gifts. Joy always participated. As upset as I am to hear of her passing, I will always cherish those memories of Joy. Her hospitality and warmth will be missed, but never forgotten.

We will remember Joyce as a wonderful woman. Even though I didn’t knew her personally, I will remember her from storys as a wonderful wife and lovely mom. Seth, nick, josh, I feel very sorry for your loss. It’s always hard to loose a loved person. But now she’s in a better place where she is fine.
