Joy M. Gower
Joy Mae Cox Gower, 82, of Frederick County, Virginia, died, Friday, March 22, 2013, in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Gower was born in 1930, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, the daughter of Dewey Lee and Elsie Clara Cox. She was a graduate of Southern Arkansas University, Class of 1975, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Gower was an Elementary School Teacher, retiring from Nevada Elementary School in Arkansas. She was a longtime member of Jackson Street Church of Christ, Magnolia, Arkansas.
She married William D. Gower on July 15, 1948, in Dyess, Arkansas.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Lisa Gower Montgomery and husband, Ben, of Winchester, Virginia, Paula Gower Black and husband, Neal, of Three Creeks, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Renee Farag and husband, Mark, Jenny Lynch and husband, Jeremy, Megan Ryan and husband, Greg, Charlie Honza, Benjamin Montgomery and wife, Theresa; five great grandchildren, Corben, Madilyn, and Olivia Lynch, Rosie Ryan, and Sophia Merrill; two sisters, Janell Parks of Memphis, Tennessee, Francine Smith of Magnolia Arkansas; four brothers, Bernie L, Cox, Lynn Cox both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lavelle Cox of Ashland, Mississippi and Larry Cox of Hernando, Mississippi, and numerous family members.
An infant sister and two brothers, James Cox and Cohen Cox, preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Monday at Macedonia Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jarrad Holloway officiating.
