Joy Evelyn Drummond, 82, of Winchester, VA formerly of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester, VA.
Mrs. Drummond was born in 1934 in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Marvin J. and Flora M. Hall. She was a cafeteria employee with Charles County, Maryland public schools. Mrs. Drummond was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Waldorf, MD for over 50 years and was an affiliate member of Arden United Methodist Church in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Her husband, Wilbert Preston Drummond, whom she married on August 23, 1955 in Tennessee preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, Preston C. Drummond (Mary Helen) of Indian Head, Maryland, Thomas D. Drummond (Cynthia) of Gerrardstown, West Virginia, Donald L. Drummond (Lorraine) of Dade City, Florida, Timothy D. Drummond (Lisa) of La Plata, Maryland; grandchildren, Sandi Hankinson (Rob) of Waldorf, Maryland, Rachel Drummond and Trevor Drummond of La Plata, Maryland, Noah Drummond and Jennifer Drummond of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; three great grandchildren, Grace Hankinson, Grady Hankinson, and Juliet Hankinson; brother, Aldridge “Sam” Hall (Flo). Dear friends, Jim and Marsha Thompson, and Bob and Chom Boettcher.
Mrs. Drummond was preceded in death by six sisters, Carrie, Mary, Mae, Ruth, Jerry, and Jean; and two brothers, Champ and Loren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel Winchester, VA with Reverend Sarah Schlieckert officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 21st, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3235 Leonardtown Road, Waldorf, Maryland. Interment will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Boettcher, Ronnie DePalma, Noah Drummond, Trevor Drummond, Rob Hankinson, and Bob Miner, Jr. Junior Pallbearer will be Grady Hankinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Black, Bobby Russell and Jim Thompson.
