Josephine Rose Sparks Gardner, 83, of Leesburg, VA, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Gardner was born in 1927 in Bakers Fork, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Eddy and Almidia Sparks. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Loudoun until her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Ashburn, Virginia.

She was married to Walter G. Gardner, who preceded her in death in 1977. Her first husband, Herbert Mays, Sr. died in 1970.

Surviving are two sons, Herbert Mays, Jr., of Clearbrook, VA and David Jonathan Gardner of Alexandria, VA; two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and one sister.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with (Clergy) officiating.
