Joseph Wilson Whitlock
Joseph Wilson Whitlock, 81, of Front Royal, VA died Friday, December 16, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Whitlock was born in 1935 in Shenandoah, VA, the son of the late Clarence and Mary Whitlock. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Whitlock attended the Winchester Church of God. He worked for Avtex for 27 years, as a mail clerk for U.S. Department of State in Sterling, VA, and for Toray as security. In his past time, Joseph enjoyed turtling, crosswords, fishing, and watching sports, especially NASCAR.
Mr. Whitlock married Bonnie L. Willingham on April 19, 1997.
Along with his wife, Mr. Whitlock is survived by his three daughters, Tammy Funkhouser (Steve) of Stephens City, VA, Teresa Rogers of Stephens City, VA, and Sharon Russell of Stephens City, VA; step-daughter, Ashley Willingham-Torp (Rodney) of Stephens City, VA; son, Jeffrey W. Whitlock (Brenda) of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, David, Derrick and Dustin Russell, Jeremy and Jesse Whitlock, and Kaelyn Willingham-Beran; also surviving is his K9 companion, Nila.
Mr. Whitlock was preceded in death by a grandchild, Lindsey Delozier; three sisters; one brother; and his K9 companion, Prissy.
The Whitlock family would like to extend a special thank you to Joseph’s caregivers, Cathy Hoffman and Lois Whitehead.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Reverend Darrell Waller officiating. Interment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, VA.
Pallbearers will be Bonnie Whitlock, Ashley Willingham-Torp, Rodney Torp, Harrison Corron, Jeff Whitlock, Jeremy Whitlock, and Steve Funkhouser.
