Joseph “Joe” Sterling Stambaugh, 75, of Winchester, VA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
Joe was born in 1941 in York, PA, the son of the late Sterling and Leah Stambaugh. He graduated from Spring Grove High School, Spring Grove, PA, attended Eastern Mennonite University, and DeVry Technical Institute. Joe was employed by IBM as a Customer Service Engineer for 35 years. He was a member of Beekeepers of Northern Shenandoah and of Christian Motorcyclists Association serving as road captain. Tending his bees, riding his BMW, and working in his workshop brought him great joy in his retirement. Joe was a member of Grace Community Church in Winchester and a member of Community of Faith Brethren in Christ Church, Roanoke, VA.
Joe married Naomi E. Stambaugh on December 24, 1965 in Grantham, PA.
Surviving with his wife of 51 years are sons, Merlin and Myron Stambaugh of Winchester and Merris (Stephanie) of Collinsville, VA; grandchildren, David, Wesley, Samuel, Dnae, Sara, Leah, Joseph, Sophia, and Isaac; brother, Carlton Stambaugh (Arlene) of Hanover, PA and sister, Connie Sweitzer of Glen Rock, PA; and 15 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 2333 Roosevelt Blvd., Winchester, VA with Rev. Arden Gilmer officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
