Joseph “Joe” Edward Rusz, 92, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at The Willows in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Rusz was born in 1925 in York Run, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Edward and Anna Ruszkiewicz. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during WWII on Saipan in the South Pacific as a radio mechanic on B-29 bombers. Mr. Rusz was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh earning a degree in Electrical Engineering and a graduate of The George Washington University Law School earning his Juris Doctorate degree. He rose to become the Chief Attorney of the U.S. Air Force Patents Division in Washington, D.C., retiring after thirty-three years of service. Mr. Rusz was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Mr. Rusz’s wife, Isabel Jane (Fidler) Rusz, whom he married on July 11, 1953 in Footedale, Pennsylvania preceded him in death on July 28, 2010.
Surviving is a daughter, Margaret Rusz Dorsey and husband, Jeffrey of Stephens City, Virginia; sons, Joseph E. Rusz, Jr. and wife, Kindra of Herndon, Virginia and Daniel R. Rusz and wife, Shannon of Stevensville, Maryland; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Rusz was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Louise; sisters, Stefani Weber, Josephine Ryan; brothers, Stephen and John Ruszkiewicz and Walter Ruszkiewich.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 120 Keating Drive, Winchester, Virginia with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
