Joseph Anthony Blevins
Joseph Anthony Blevins, 38, of Windsor Mill, Maryland died Sunday, July 31, 2016 as a result of the recent flood devastation in Maryland.
Joseph was born in 1978 in Manassas, Virginia, the son of James Blevins of Manassas, Virginia and Kathy M. Blevins of Winchester, Virginia. He graduated from Strasburg High School class of 1996. Joe received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2001 and he went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Accounting from University of Maryland University College which he completed in 2012. Joe’s achievements in life were numerous, including his passion for the field of financial aid. He worked his way up from a financial aid data entry clerk in Virginia Tech’s financial aid office to eventually being promoted to the Director of Financial aid at the University of Baltimore.
Joe was a lover of video games and books, especially the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. He was an avid follower of the Virginia Tech Hokies Football team and made it a point to visit Blacksburg, Virginia annually. Joe will be remembered by all as funny, compassionate, and loving person to those who he touched in life both personally and professionally. Joe was a devoted father who put his kids above all else and his strengths will be carried on through each of them.
Surviving with his parents are a partner in life, Heather Owens, two daughters, Hailey Carroll and Ashlyn Blevins; son, Jacob Blevins; sister, Jennifer Blevins; brothers, Brian and Andrew Blevins; half-brothers, Austin and James Blevins; he has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who also will continue to make his memory live on.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 7, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with Pastor Andy Combs officiating at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
