John Marshall Jenkins
John Marshall Jenkins, 65, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away, Sunday, December 13, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Jenkins was born in 1944 in Clarke County, Virginia, the son of the late Jacob and Susie Jenkins. He retired in 2008 as a foreman from Facchina with thirty years of service. Mr. Jenkins was a member of VFW Post 2123 and VFW Post 976, Winchester Eagles Aerie #824, Berryville Moose Lodge #2139, and American Legion Post #21. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
His wife, Sandra Marie Whitacre, whom he married on April 17, 1996 in Winchester, Virginia, preceded him in death on March 19, 2008.
Surviving are three children, Michelle Robinson of Stephenson, John Jenkins, Jr. of Stephenson and Matthew Jenkins of Charlotte, North Carolina; a step daughter, Terri Long of Winchester; eleven grandchildren, Michael, MaKayla, Mercedes and McKenzie Robinson, Jolie Jenkins, Heather, Tasha, and Samantha Long, Robert, Charles and Tiffany Starkey; two great grandchildren, Kayliegh Long and Kyiona Brooks; two sisters, Shirley Young of Berryville and Racheal Leight of Frederick County; and two brothers, Manuel Jenkins of Stephens City and Frank Jenkins of Clarke County. He is preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Starkey and two brothers, Floyd Jenkins and Mitchell Jenkins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Pastor Jim Markle officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be John Jenkins, Jr., Matthew Jenkins, William Matthews, Jr., Jimmy Young, Richard Whitacre, and Bill Stinson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
