John G. Kisner
John Gary Kisner, age 78, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, March 31, 2012.
John was born in 1933, in Charles Town, West Virginia, the son of the late John Franklin and Ethel W. Kisner. He was a graduate from Charles Town High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Shepherd College. He worked in sales for O’Sullivan Corporation, Allegheny Freight Lines and Overnite Transportation, retiring in 1991. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Winchester. John was well known for his many passions including traveling the world, coin collecting, attending auctions and collecting antiques. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and close friend to many who will be greatly missed by all.
John married Bettie G. Kisner on June 30, 1993 in Winchester. His former wife was Rachel Rose Kisner.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kristi K. Kitts of Winchester, Virginia, two sons, John Stephen Kisner and his partner, John Lojpersberger of Reston, Virginia, Gary Scott Kisner and wife, Christine of Mount Jackson, Virginia; two grandchildren; Nicole Noble Warren and Tucker L. Kisner, and two sisters, Hazel LeMaster of Winchester, Virginia and Nina Vickers of Charles Town, West Virginia. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many close friends.
John is preceded in death by his eight brothers, Frank, Roy, Leo, Chuck, Norman, Alvin, Kenneth, and Freddie Kisner.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Pastor George Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
