John Franklin Fout beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center. He was 93.
John was born in 1931 in Frederick County, VA, the son of the late Belmont and Ethel Fout. He attended Mountain View, a three-room school house, and Gore High School. As a youngster, John enjoyed playing baseball with schoolmates. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church on Cedar Creek Grade. John served our country during the Korean War era from June 1954 to June 1956 as a Private in the United States Army. Boot camp was at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He was stationed at Fort Story, VA in the Transportation Corps. John spent his life as a farmer, working closely with his father and later operating his own farm in Frederick County. John also worked at the Farmers Livestock Exchange in Winchester. He loved to cook and bake and was known for his sweet tea and applesauce cake. John enjoyed going to car lots to look at cars and farm equipment. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family.
He married Phyllis J. Tisinger on December 8, 1956 at Kernstown United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death in 2012.
John is survived by his children, John Fout (Carolyn), Franklin Fout (Kathy), Lisa Rott (Frank), Michael Fout (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Ryan, Danielle, Ariella, Joshua, Katherine, Emma, Lauren, Olivia and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Silas, Cohen, and Lucas and his sister, Joyce Noice (Randy).
Along with his wife and parents, John is preceded in death by his sister, Rowena Fout.
A visitation will be held for John on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
