John E. Adair, 76, of Frederick County, VA, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Adair was born in 1948 in Fayetteville, TN, son of the late William and Florence Adair. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Service Stars, Meritorious Unit Commendation, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge, and Overseas Service Bar. Mr. Adair retired from serving his country as a Master Sergeant and earned an associates degree from Brooklyn College in New York.
Mr. Adair was an Engineer, retired from TRIAD Engineering. He was a faithful church member of Bethel Lutheran Church and enjoyed being a part of the Men’s Ministry. Mr. Adair was always willing to lend a helping hand. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, cross country skiing, biking, and running. He would spend time playing sudoku and working crossword puzzles. His greatest passion was his family. He adored his children, grandchildren, and most of all his loving wife and always looked forward to bowling and playing games with family and friends.
He married Brenda Hart on September 21, 1991 in New York.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Brenda Adair; daughters, Melissa Lutz (Bobby) and Amanda Wisch (Travis); sons, Dennis Pelczynski and Brian Pelczynski; grandchildren, Anthony, Jeremy, Leah, Ophelia, Waylen, and Charlotte; brother-in-law, Mitchel Hart (Margaret); nephews, Mitchel, Andrew, and Josh; cousins, Diane, Susan, Gail, Tammy, Bethanne, Jennifer, Karen, David, and Kitty; his church family and many dear friends.
A visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 2077 N. Frederick Pike, Winchester, VA followed by a memorial service with military honors at 11 am. Reverend Dr. David Young will be officiating. A fellowship reception will follow the service at the church.
