John Clarence McGlone, 85, of Clear Brook,VA, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Blue Ridge Care.

John was born in 1941 in Scranton, PA, son of the late Clarence and Miriam McGlone. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam conflict earning a Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, retiring after 20 years of service achieving the rank of Captain. John earned a Bachelor of Science in History from Benedictine College and Masters Degree in Business at Central Michigan University.

John and his wife Frances “Frankie” Murphy celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on July 11, 2026.

Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Mary Ro McGlone Strenko and a son, Sean McGlone; sisters, Ann McGlone, Jane McGlone, and Mary Louise “Meezy” Kearney (The Late M.J.); and brothers, Jeffrey McGlone and Michael McGlone, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents John was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel and Paul McGlone.

Services will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, VA on Thursday, August 6, 2026 with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
