John “Buddy” Murphy, age 61, of Sumerduck, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Murphy was born in 1956 in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of the late John Earl, Sr. and Josephine W. Murphy. He was a graduate of Groveton High School in Alexandria. He was employed as the property manager for Penn Parking in Maryland. John enjoyed NASCAR, the Nationals, the Redskins, Elvis, fishing, boating, dog sitting, and most of all spending time with his sons, John and Joseph.

John married Darlene Poland on April 22, 1985 in Alexandria, Virginia.

Surviving with his wife are his sons, John Murphy of Sumerduck, Virginia and Joseph Murphy of Chantilly, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Savannah Murphy of Warrenton, Virginia and Blake Murphy of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, May 25th at 11:00 AM at Omps, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 PM. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.

It's been 5 years now and I miss you more every day.

My sincere sympathy & respect to 'Little Buddy's" Family at this time. Cousin Jimmy Mawyer in Richmond, Kentucky

Darlene, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was so sorry to hear of Buddy's passing. I cannot begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Hope the memories of all the wonderful loving times, gives you a bit of comfort. Sorry I couldn't make it to the service and sending hugs!

Darlene, Words alone can not express the sympathy I have in my heart for you and your family. I was always captivated by your family stories and the love you showed each time you said his name ( "Buddy" ) and blushed. God blessed you with 30 yrs together and a lifetime of memories. Cherish the memories.
