John B. “Jack” Schimmel

John Bunker “Jack” Schimmel, 61, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home.

Jack was born in 1953 in Caracas, Venezuela, the son of Donald Schimmel and the late Jane Schimmel. He graduated from Oakton High School in Oakton, VA, after which he did extensive training to become an electrician. He was a Commercial Master Electrician and Union Journeyman. He was a member of Destiny Church, the Stephens City Moose Club and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He was an avid Redskins fan who enjoyed cooking, and loved his three dogs, Wilber, Baxter and Kenzie. The greatest joy in Jack’s life was his grandson, Aiden.

Surviving with his father of Hedgesville, WV is his partner of 28 years, Angela Elizabeth Crisp; his former wife, Pamela Mitchell Baine; a daughter, Amy Crisp Moore (Scott) of Bristol, TN; a son, Jason Schimmel of Horseheads, NY; a grandson, Aiden Moore of Bristol, TN; a sister, Sharon Schimmel Pierce (Joe) of Louisburg, NC and three brothers, Thomas Peter Schimmel (Debby) of Fairfax, VA, Timothy George Schimmel (Key) of Keezletown, VA and James Raymond Schimmel (Sally) of Alexandria, VA.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Destiny Church, 308 Hope Drive, Winchester, VA with Pastor Chris Jarrell officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Destiny Church, 37 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.

Angela (and to all of your family), We were very sorry to hear about Jack's passing. You have been in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. Jack was a very pleasent guy and easy to be around. He was blessed to have you for a partner in his life. Robyn and Glenn

Don, I am sorry to learn of the death of your son Jack. I lost one of my sons about that age several years ago and I know what a loss it must be for you. I'm forwarding Jack's obituary to my brother Ward, currently in Rehab in Florida to recuperate from a fall more than a month ago.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to our good friend Angela Crisp from Destiny Church, and to her daughter, Amy, and grandson, Aiden, at the loss of their precious loved one Jack. We also extend our sympathy to Jack's dear family as well. My daughter, Holly, and I feel privileged to have met Jack once at a Destiny Church picnic about a year ago. We are praying for peace and comfort for all of you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ now and in the days ahead.

Angela, Amy, and Jack's family. I was saddened to hear of Jack's death. It was nice getting to know him through you. He was a character, always nice, and had that "wicked" hint of a grin and spark in his eyes when you were in on the joke. Please know our thoughts are with you.

I just saw this post, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know I didn't keep in touch with him in these last years but I have very fond memories working with John starting back at LT Bowden in the early 80s. I also enjoyed his friendship and sense of humor many years later when we reconnected for a short period. I'm deeply saddened. Hang in there everyone. sincerely, Bill
