Joanna “Joan” Gnegy, 90, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Friday, January 24, 2020, at Winchester Medical Center.
Ms. Gnegy was born in 1929 in McDowell, Kentucky, daughter of the late Joseph and Lenia Elliott. She retired from Winchester Medical Center where she worked in housekeeping. Ms. Gnegy was a member of T.O.P.S. and a member of Montague United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, watching and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Surviving are daughters, Sherry Blakovich (Peter) of Vernon, New Jersey, Jane Oakley (George) of Maurertown, Virginia, and Rebecca Reed (Francis) of Roanoke, Virginia; sons, Jon Gnegy (Deborah) of Strasburg, Virginia, Rob Gnegy (Karen) of Strasburg, Virginia, and Dan Gnegy (Mary) of Oakland, Maryland; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann King, a son, David Gnegy, and six siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Wayne Racey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to Montague United Methodist Church, 102 Montague Avenue, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
