Joan Willey West, 86, formerly of Woodstock, VA passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Winchester Medical Center.
Joan was born in 1934 in Ellsworth, ME to the late Richard Crossman and Winifred Rollins Willey. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crafting, sewing, reading and sharing fun times and adventures with her good friends. Her true passions were shopping and decorating her home. Joan had a keen wit and a wicked sense of humor which endeared her to many. She was an excellent cook who took great pleasure in preparing wonderful meals for her family and friends, especially Sunday dinners.
Joan married Gerald Lloyd West on July 6, 1954 in Ellsworth, ME. During her husband’s career in the United States Navy, they traveled and lived in various places throughout the United States and abroad. Upon Gerald’s retirement from the Navy in 1970, they settled in Manassas, VA where they resided until moving to Woodstock, VA in 1989.
Surviving are her children, Jerri Lynn Cook (Ed), Richard West (Donna) and Jeffrey West; son-in-law, Mark Rhodes; grandchildren, Christina, Jeffrey, Andria, Ryan, Kevin, Eric and Melissa; great grandchildren, Audrey, Amelia, Emma and Annie.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her parents; daughter, Karen Louise Rhodes; sisters, Karen Bunker and Alice Rollins; brother, Richard Willey.
Joan will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
