Joan Pingley Haas
December 20, 1927 – August 9, 2012
Our Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Joan Patricia Pingley Haas, 84, of Stephens City, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and five sisters.
Joan was born on December 20, 1927 in Strasburg, VA to John Henry Pingley and Agnes Albertus Bowman Pingley. She was employed at Belk Department Store (formerly Leggett’s Dept. Store) in Winchester for more than 30 years and was a member of the PACE SETTERS Club. She was a long-time member of the Winchester Church of God.
Joan is survived by her children: Sheila Almond, Thomas Haas, Patricia Williams and Dennis Haas. Nine grandchildren; Jeremy Almond, Richie Pifer, Leah Almond Metcalf, Robin Pifer Perlick, Tommy Pifer, William Hayes, Elizabeth, Tori and Maria Haas. Ten great-grandchildren; Travis Ritter, Tyler and Sara Almond; Justice, Logan and Ashlyn Pifer; Kameryn and Kaden Metcalf; Logan and Caleb Roberson, and her younger sister Jean Hart of Starke, FL.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Winchester Church of God on Saturday, August 18th at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Kent Woodward officiating. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, VA. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the services at the church.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
