Jimmy Atkins, 73, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Atkins was born in 1945 in West Friendship, Maryland, the son of the late Manuel and Alpha Atkins. He was a heavy equipment operator with Pine Knoll Construction. Mr. Atkins enjoyed hunting, stock car and dirt track racing. His greatest love was his family, especially spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended Hayfield Assembly of God.
He married Mary Combs on December 20, 1963 in Redland, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Theresa L. Mobley (Michael) and Sandra R. Keeney (Jeff); son, Jimmy “Scott” Atkins (Julie); grandchildren, Michael Clark, Tyler Deuterman, Angela Keeney, Tory Atkins, Brittany Atkins, Ashlie Atkins, Seth Atkins, and Ryder Carter; great grandchildren, Hunter, Lilly and Joshua Clark, Charles McDonald, III, Naomi and Namine Keeney; and sister, Connie Towers.
Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Atkins; sisters, Minnie Houck, Lucille Carmichael, Mary Edith Jones, Pauline Kidd, Gladys Kidd, and Dorothy; and brothers, Jake, James, Hugh, and Emory Atkins.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, October 6th, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a funeral service at 1 pm with Pastor Don Stotler officiating. Interment will be private.
