Jimmie D. Grew

            Jimmie Dale Grew, 78, of Winchester, Virginia died Monday, November 17, 2014 at his home.

            Mr. Grew was born in 1936 in Summit Mills, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Carl and Gladys Grew. He was a graduate of Meyersdale Area High School in Meyersdale, PA, Class of 1954, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by FEMA at Mount Weather Communications until his retirement in 1992, and was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. Jimmie was a loving husband, father and grandfather “pop-pop”. He will be forever remembered for his love of the great outdoors and wood working whenever possible. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

            Mr. Grew married Betty Lou Shoemaker Grew on March 21, 1959 in Dundalk, MD.

            Surviving with his wife are three sons, Gregory Grew and wife, Michelle, Jeffrey Grew and wife, Traci and Rodney Grew, all of Winchester; three grandchildren; Jeffrey, Jacob  and Whitney; a sister, Ruth Ann Imhoff of Meyersdale, PA and a brother, Robert Grew and wife, Hope, also of Meyersdale.

                        Mr. Grew was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Horchler and Jeannie Butterbaugh.

            The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

            A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Brock officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
