Jean Marie (Yanovitch) Flanagan, 87, of Bluemont, VA, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, VA.

Ms. Jean Flanagan was born in 1934 in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Stella and John Yanovitch. She graduated from Boston Girls High School in Boston, MA. Ms. Flanagan was a retired Civil Servant from the U.S. Government.

Jean loved spending laughter-filled time with family while providing delicious home-cooked meals. When not spoiling her human family Jean showered attention on her cats Fanci, Maxx and Brady. Although she moved from Boston at a young age Jean’s love of seafood and passion for the Red Sox endured to the end.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Flanagan (Diane) of Bluemont, VA and Shaun Flanagan (Glenn) of London, UK, two grandchildren, Nicole Flanagan of Ashburn, VA, Aaron Flanagan (Heather) of Front Royal, VA. Two brothers, John Yanovitch (Bridie), of NH and Robert Yanovitch (Karen), of MA.

Ms. Flanagan is preceded in death by her grandchild, Shannon Flanagan.

A Graveside service was conducted by Pastor Alan Morrison at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA.

As a long time friend of Jean’s son Shaun Flanagan I met Jean when she came to visit him in London. She was a wonderful character, quick with a smile and a laugh, something she passed on to Shaun. I wish we could have all spent more time with her but in a way we do that through Shaun. Jean is in out thoughts now and will be in our memories for ever. Much love to all the family. Richard
