Jean “Twister” Gillis
Jean “Twister” Gillis, 61, of Paw Paw, WV, died March 8, 2016, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Gillis was born in 1954, in Washington D.C., the daughter of the late Frederick and Claudia Pearson. She attended Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria, VA. She was a bus driver for Prince William County for ten years and drove dump trucks for more than thirty years for various companies. She attended Bloomery Presbyterian Church, was a loving mom and family referee, loved crafting and bowling, enjoyed the outdoors and camping, and she loved wolves.
Mrs. Gillis married Kyle R. Gillis, Sr. on December 15, 1984 in Fairfax County, VA.
Surviving with her husband, is her former husband Roger Wood, Sr., of Spotsylvania, VA; her six daughters, Judith Moore, of Spotsylvania, VA, Claudia Boyce, of Culpepper, VA, Cynthia Walls, of Stafford, VA, Kelli Lawrence, of Newport, NC, Dale Sacra, of Stafford, VA, and Cherokee Daniels, of Slanesville, VA; her four sons, Roger Wood, Jr., of Spotsylvania, VA, James Wood, of Paw Paw, WV, Kyle Gillis, Jr. of Romney, WV, and adopted son John Finger, Jr. of Clearwater, FL; twenty seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her two-step sisters and three step-brothers.
She was preceded in death by her adopted son, Bryan Tinsley.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 10-11 am at Omps Funeral Home – South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at Omps Funeral Home – South Chapel with Pastor Ronald Wilkes officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
