Mr. Mohr was born in 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Elizabeth and Charles Mohr. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army, stationed in Germany and achieving the rank of PFC. Mr. Mohr retired in 1993 from his son, Jan’s business, Jan Mohr Construction in New York. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Mohr had a passion for fishing and hunting, he enjoyed camping with his family when they were in New York. He liked to “play the horses”, he loved his sports especially football and played baseball as a youngster.
He married Jane Ellen on October 25, 1953, in Long Island, New York.
Surviving with his wife of 63 years are his daughter, Diane Schemering (Joe Sheedy); his sons, Jerry Mohr (Barbara), Brien Mohr (Marylou), Joseph Mohr (Susan), Glenn Mohr (Ashley); daughter-in-law, Mary Mohr; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren with three more on the way; and his sisters, Elizabeth Takats and Lee Entenmann.
His son, Jan Mohr and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Brendan W. Bartlett officiating. Interment will be private at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
