Janice Hilleary-Brown Dodd, 54 of Stephenson, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Janice was born November 27th, 1970 (Thanksgiving Day) as the eldest child & only daughter of Harry Daniel Brown, Jr. and Judith Cooper Brown. After graduating from high school, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in communications from West Virginia University. She later moved to Great Falls, Virginia where she met her husband, Kevin. Most recently, she worked for Rappahannock Electric in asset accounting as their ‘Operations and Construction Administrator’.

Janice enjoyed baking, organizing anything and everything, shopping, trying new wineries & breweries, watching Love Island with her girls (virtually), being outside, attending sporting events, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach, her job, the color purple, tulips, having a different style or color purse for every season, soap operas (specifically The Days of Our Lives), reality tv, nascar, college football, hockey, and Autumn was her favorite time of the year. Most of all, she loved Friday date night with her husband Kevin.

Janice treasured every moment spent with her family, especially when that time was back in New Hampshire, at Lake Winnipesaukee, where she was always happiest. She was known as ‘the queen of all things’ because, thanks to her type-a personality, everything had a way of order. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She was and will forever remain a beautiful, kind soul.

Janice is survived by her husband, Kevin Allen Dodd whom she married on September 9th, 1995; daughters, Megan Hilleary Dodd of Charleston, SC and Alyssa Nicole Dodd & fiancé Warryn Presten Jeffries of Lexington, KY; her parents, Harry and Judith Brown; brother, Jeffrey Alan Brown; and nephew, Cooper Andrew Brown & niece, Virginia Ann Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Janice on Saturday, September 13th from 12pm to 4pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Cahpel Reception Center.

My heartfelt sympathy to Kevin, Megan and Alyssa. I worked with Janice at Cable and Wireless and counted her as a dear friend and co-worker while our paths crossed. Both Megan and Alyssa were born while we worked together , and I celebrated their arrival, as she did, with joy! Janice was all that is described in her tribute and more! There was no task or problem too large or too small for her attention, whether it was work-related or personal, and she accomplished all with grace, thoroughness and her trademark smile. I remember a particular incident when I happened to be in Houston and couldn’t leave because of a terrible thunderstorm. Without hesitation, Janice arranged alternate transportation. Although we hadn’t been in touch for a number of years, I will always remember her with fondness and admiration. I know your memories with and of Janice will always be with you. I have had the pleasure of working with Janice for the past 12 years. She always gushed over her daughters and the last time I saw her at work, she was so proud to show me the video of Alyssa's engagement. She fought so hard! She will be missed by all of us at REC. Kevin and family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
