Janet Mae Lofton, 72, of White Post, Virginia died Thursday at her home in White Post, Virginia.
Ms. Lofton was born in 1939 in Clarke County the daughter of Floyd Lofton and the late Geraldine Lofton. She was an apple packer at A.P. Thompson for 7 years. Ms. Lofton also worked at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club for 34 years in food service. She was a member of White Post United Methodist Church and a 1958 graduate of Clarke County High School.
Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne Whitacre Thomas and her husband Hampton of White Post, Virginia; a son, Hugh Donald Whitacre and his wife Penny of Winchester, Virginia; three grandchildren, Megan Nicole Thomas Ashby and her husband Norman; Leah Sanders and her husband, Timothy and Bethany Bauserman; two great grandchildren Meghan Elizabeth Ashby and Blake Zane Sanders; one sister, Anna Larrick and her husband, Allen of White Post; one niece, Amy Larrick; her loving cat, Wanda and devoted dog, Chloe.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with David Owings officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Conrad, George Hoenig, Ronald Creswell, Jerry Hughes, and Jason Keefer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sammy Buckley and Ralph Shiley.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 – 8 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
