Dearest Jan, my heart is so sad that you are no longer with us. You were always such a positive, smiling person and coworker and I will cherish all the wonderful memories of our time with the Corps of Engineers. I'm sure you are walking with your sons now and still smiling that beautiful smile of yours. You will be missed by many people as your presence on this earth was one that made all of us happy. I didn't know Jan that well, and I have been retired from the Corps for 12 years now, but I remember her as a very pleasant, friendly lady and a great photographer! She will be greatly missed by the whole Corps family.

RIP dear dear friend! I'm so sorry that I took you for granted and thought that you'd always be there! That there would be another Apple Blossom to come back for, another birthday to celebrate or that I could call you the next day - I was too busy or so wrapped up in work or my "stuff" that you'd understand? I'm kicking myself because I could've seen you the first week of July - I was in WV trying to figure out how to handle my Aunt Robin's husband's estate and had thought to myself "you know, I'll see Janet and Phyllis when I come back later this month - when things have calmed down".....You were always there for me when I needed you no matter what!!! And helped me when I was at my worse... Never judging - just being there, listening, giving advice (Mama Dove style), loving unconditionally - just being the great friend that you always were! Way too many memories to list - Apple Blossom parade yelling at the Bands to smile and Shriners to cheer them on, the Terrace Club, drinking coffee on Sunday mornings discussing the night before, talking to each other on the phone while walking down the stairs to see you in your living room, the bats, eating crabs, driving to Fairview Beach listening to Garth Brooks, hangng out by the pool on the weekends in Stephens City, watching your headlights as your drove thru the front yard (including the neighbors) to get away from Lew, your aunt's footsteps on the stairs, the wine festival where we couldn't "hadle it", watching the Apple Blossm 5k from the house, hiking around your families land and ice mountain, driving to Fairfax to get your car serviced.... I love you and miss you with all my heart Janet Dove!! You're going to be missed by so many! I know you're in heaven and at peace now because you're with Larry and Scotty, but I wish you were still here! Thank you for being such a wonderful best friend!!!! <3

I had the honor of working with Jan at the Corps of Engineers for many years. I shall always remember her beautiful smile, her willingness to assist with any project, and the assurance that everything her job entailed would be accomplished in a timely, efficient and professional manner. She always went the extra mile! Jan was a friend to all and will be missed.

Beth and I feel a personal loss at Jan's passing. For over four years, Jan served along side of me with steadfast courage, optimism, great technical skill, and determination. She always delivered on her promises, she always served with the utmost professionalism, and despite the staggering loss of her two sons, she did everything that was asked of her, and more. To Jan's family and friends we say: we have lost a hero, and great public servant, a caring mother, and a true friend. Jan, we pray earnestly that you are in God's tender care.

Jan I will miss you the rest of my life. It has been a great joy living upstairs & a comfort that I havent had for so long. You made me feel so at home and the times you would leave the porch light on for me when it was dark. I Love you and miss you I will see you in Gods time Girl.

I am convinced that Jan has gone to heaven to be with her boys. It's been a tough few years for her, and what a "send off" with such a great birthday party last weekend. Sorry I couldn't be there. RIP, Jan!

I had the pleasure of working with you at the Corp when I would follow behind you with our briefing in the UDC after you finished taking their pictures. It was so upsetting Monday to hear the news of your passing. I still can't believe that you are gone and we will no longer have your loving, friendly personality in the office anymore. I will always be grateful that we got to spend time with you at your surprise birthday party, you were so happy and it was so nice to see the smile on your face and light in your eyes again as you enjoyed your day! Janet, I came looking for you at Apple Blossom this year at your favorite place as I have been doing for the past ten years but did not see you. I am sorry that we did not connect this year as I remember how you always gave me a big hug and kiss on the cheek. I will always remember working with you on the Handley-James Wood classes of the 60's reunion in Virginia Beach in 2003. You were loved by so many and will certainly be missed. I will always treasure your friendship and will surely think of you each year at Apple Blossom when I go past your favorite place.

Jan I am posting on Harry's behalf, I know he would have done this. He always enjoyed seeing you when we would come up to the Elks on a visit. You always gave him a good laugh. I hope you can be at peace now with your Son's. God Bless

Dearest Jan, The time spent with you on Saturday was too short for me due to another commitment but I had such a great time. You looked absolutely beautiful & so happy.
