Janet Lineweaver Alexander
Janet Lineweaver Alexander, 74, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, February 19, 2016, in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Alexander was born in 1941 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the daughter of the late Paul E. and Mary V. Lineweaver. Janet was a graduate of Montevideo High School, Class of 1959. After high school, she attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Janet was employed with the Department of Defense at the Bad Aibling Base in Germany as a business manager. She had a passion for sewing, cross-stitching and reading. She would even read a book a day. Janet was extremely talented at any kind of crafts and enjoyed cooking. She loved to travel with her husband, James, and they had traveled to Scotland, Wales, England, Germany, Spain, and all over the United States.
Mrs. Alexander married James Alexander on November 29, 1997 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving with her husband are sons, Ronald L. Pierce (Robin), St. Paul, MN, Richard “Rick” F. Pierce (Amanda), Rock Hill, SC, Michael “Mike” Alexander (Deanna Painter), Winchester, VA, Steve Alexander (Jeanie), Gore, VA; daughter, Suzanne LilPino Pierce, Roanoke, VA; daughter-in-law, Kim Pierce; grandchildren, Joy Pierce, Stephens City, VA, Mary Pierce, Stephens City, VA, Preston Pierce, Rock Hill, SC, Chandler Kennedy, Rock Hill, SC, Richard “Michael” Pierce, Rock Hill, SC; great grandson, Tyler Salmon, Winchester, VA; niece, Barbara Shank, Stuarts Draft, VA; nephews, Ed Lantz, Lynchburg, VA and Jay Lantz, Richmond, VA; sister, Betty Heatwole, Yakima, WA.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard C. Pierce; son, Scott E. Pierce; sister, Lois Lantz; and brother in law, Harry Lantz.
Janet’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Bill Everhart officiating.
