Janet Christine (Myers) Barr, 77, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.
Janet was born on December 22, 1948, in Winchester, VA, to the late Ralph Irwin Myers and Ressie “Peggy” May (Stultz) Myers. Growing up on a local farm, she developed a lifelong love for animals, especially cats, dogs, and horses. Over the years, Janet worked as a self-employed dog groomer and as a cafeteria worker at the original James Wood High School. She also dedicated time as a hospital volunteer before taking on a position in patient registration for hospital intake and outtake. She was of the Methodist faith and previously attended Lamps Memorial United Methodist Church.
She married David Leo Barr, Sr., on March 11, 1966, in Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by her two sons, David Leo Barr, Jr. (Sandy) of Harpers Ferry, WV, and Christopher Scott Barr (Kathy) of Mathias, WV; four grandchildren, Christopher Gavin Barr (Kylie) of Wardensville, WV, David Adam Barr of Springfield, IL, Casey Jodie Ressie Barr of Mathias, WV, and Clinton Irwin Raymond Barr of Mathias, WV; and two great grandchildren, Olivia Marie Barr and Naomi Elizabeth Barr.
Along with her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Myers and Skip “Skipper” Myers.
