Janet Castleman Russell, age 90, of Stephens City, Virginia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2026.

Mrs. Russell was born in 1935, the daughter of the late Stewart and Iva Castleman. She was a legal and Church secretary. She graduated from James Wood High School in 1955.
She married H. Ralph Russell on October 4, 1980, at First Assembly of God in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Russell passed away on June 13, 2009. She was a member of Spirit & Word Fellowship but recently has been attending The Valley Assembly of God Church.

Surviving is a stepdaughter, Michele R. Mollard, and two grandchildren: Megan and Andrew Mollard, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Russell was predeceased by four sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Russell will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Graveside service will be private.

Great Aunt Janet had the most beautiful smile that lit up the room with her sparkling, mischievous eyes that hinted at knowing something about life that the rest of us did not. She always had a way of making everyone feel seen and she truly embodied loving comfort. May all the wonderful memories of Aunt Janet bring us peace and may we carry her spirit in our hearts forever. Janet was a kind, sweet lady! The last few years we had the privilege to enjoy sharing fun times (at our 3rd Saturday Breakfast Group, at Golden Corral). We will greatly miss her; but will cherish the memories ❣️❣️❣️❣️

Janet and I shared countless joyful moments that I will always hold dear. From our visits to Sight & Sound and Shenandoah Music Theater to delightful yard parties, heartwarming evenings spent admiring Christmas lights, and memorable dinners together, each experience was filled with laughter and warmth. She had a special gift for bringing joy into our lives. I deeply cherish the beautiful times we had together and will forever remember her with love and fondness.

Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

I will always remember Janet, a very special friend. As people journey through life, they leave lasting footprints on our hearts—footprints of kindness, love, courage, compassion, joy, and faith. Her profound love for the Lord inspired me deeply. I cherish the moment I saw her Tuesday morning when I visited, not realizing it would be our last time together. Like a shooting star across the night sky, the most beautiful things are not ours to keep. When I gaze at the stars, I’ll remember you, Janet, shining bright in heaven and sharing joyful moments with Ralph! Love Ya! ❤️

Always so nice and thought the world of her. I'm glad she lived a long good life and will be missed.

It was such a blessing to know Ms Janet! She was a joy to be around ! She added humor to life! I will miss Ms Janet , but I'm rejoicing in the fact that she is with Jesus!
